A Unique Setting…
It’s not often you get to have an office or meeting space located amongst such an abundance of biodiversity.
Porton Science Park (PSP) is located in south Wiltshire in England and between Andover and Salisbury at Porton Down Science Campus in an area of Special Scientific Interest.
Most days, you can witness some of the abundant wildlife that shares our location including hares, foxes, deer and pheasant, least not forgetting the cheery sound of birdsong.
At PSP (and with the support of Wiltshire Council), we are endeavouring to do our best to negate our environmental impact. Our buildings have been designed and constructed to be as energy efficient as possible whilst still retaining a comfortable working environment.
Our latest building, The Lyle, has achieved an excellent BREEAM rating – a certification process that validates the environmental sustainability of a building’s construction.
Other measures in place include:
• rain water harvesting
• extensive arrays of roof top PV panels on both buildings
• sealed labs and offices with individual ventilation controls for the end user
• ongoing assessment of working practices to improve sustainability and environmental impact
In partnership with our waste carriers, we are always assessing the impact of our waste steams to ensure we adhere to the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle…
Vista
PSP’s labs and offices look out across rural landscapes of rolling fallow fields and amidst the calm serenity, properties offer a welcoming space in which to operate your business or to meet with clients, visitors and delegates.
Immediate grounds are beautifully landscaped with planting schemes to support wildflower growth and to offer habitats for native species.
PSP’s tenants are allocated a selection of parking bays and EV charging is also available for tenant staff use.
How to visit us
We encourage PSP based tenant staff as well as the wider campus staff to reduce their car miles driven to the site as well as reducing “drive alone” figures that are also made to Porton Down Science Campus by visitors and contractors.
Conscious that car culture is a significant contributor of environmental emissions and where over 60% of car journeys in the UK are single occupancy, it is acknowledged that PSP’s location is rural and so it can be difficult to get to work without a car from distances over 10 miles.
An immediate solution to overcome this is for tenants and visitors to consider car sharing where it is feasible and/or viable for those staff who might live in the vicinity of a colleague – or indeed of another company at PSP.
Please also consider whether staff at our campus partner organisations (Dstl, UKHSA and PBL) might also be able to participate in this scheme with your staff.
Car ownership costs! – fuel, insurance, maintenance, and depreciation on a vehicle’s value – and if PSP staff can car share on a day or two or over all days during the working week, it will start to make a difference to achieve environmentally sustainable modes of travel and PSP welcomes this consideration.
If you would be interested in lodging your interest in a car share, please speak to a member of PSP’s staff.
We encourage car sharing amongst our tenants and visitors whenever possible, but we are also serviced by public transport.
